What is the potential developer on Android? It could be higher than on iOS!

What is the potential developer on Android? I speak of course of the money to be made. For many, the comparison with Apple’s simple: there is more money to be currently on iOS. The question of income is of course very important for developers, because the investment and efforts to develop requires the ability to “live” in return. Traditionally, iOS is regarded as the best path. Think again, Android is increasingly important in the match. Some Android would release even a wider margin than on iOS.

To illustrate this, I will tell you about Pocket Legends. It is an MMO (massively multiplayer online) available on iOS and Android who won a big success among users and also with the specialized press. According to the game publisher, Spacetime, activity on Android is two times higher than on iOS. On Android, the game is downloaded about 9,000 times a day, according Spacetime, iOS, daily downloads are of the order of 3000 to 4000. An even more important point, Android users who use the application about three times more than their counterparts on iOS.

This translates to a revenue / user 30 to 50 cents higher on Android. Even as the Android version has no integrated procurement system (In App Purchase), which is planned for the month of April 2011.

CEO Gary Gattis Spacetime has said: “Android has become our primary interest.”. A note more relevant when looking at the table above on the incomes of 30 and 60 days.

Another surprising figure concerning advertising, the main source of income, Android users click three times more than iOS users. The clicks on Android, are transformed into purchase twice as often as on iOS.

What explains these differences?

It is true that Android is still less developed than iOS in terms of bundled software, the AppStore has many more applications than the Android Market. However the signals are green: Eric Schmidt said recently that 150,000 Android devices were activated daily, according to AndroLib, these are 30,000 applications that are added to the Android Market monthly.

A case far from isolated.
