Virgin Mobile launches new packages and the Galaxy in September

1 week ago, I received one after two press releases Virgin Mobile announced new packages “unlimited”. Virgin Mobile is an MVNO (host operators – SFR, BT and Orange – rent their network) which runs on the Orange network and includes 1.2 million customers since its launch. Since the Board of Monitors (July 2008) had eased tariffs between MVNO and operator, Virgin preparing packages with unlimited EVERYTHING, so from June 17 here a package with SMS, MMS, Data, Calls, Emails + Messenger … unlimited, 24/7 for only € 89.90.

Another package blocked with 2 hours, 5 unlimited numbers (calls + SMS), data + unlimited email for 29.90 euros per month could attract more than one, including students. This is not everything, but I’ll let you see it on the official press release.

Another big surprise is that with these packages + a few euros a month (mobile Grant), Virgin Mobile will offer the Galaxy from the beginning of September (due out this summer at Bouygues Telecom). This would also mean that the Samsung Galaxy – or i7500 (table comparing Android mobile) could be proposed at Orange to return too. The exclusive Samsung Galaxy would be only 2 months if Bouygues Telecom meets the announced dates and communicate a little more …

Virgin Mobile is not the only MVNO offered at all unlimited plan because Coriolis will offer voice and data packages completely unlimited 24h / 24, 7/7 … to 69.90 euros per month.

MVNOs will perhaps finally democratize unlimited calls and data as they did for SMS. Finally, Lagarde and Chatel ministers should first take care of the 4th license and finally promote real competition, especially that Virgin Mobile would be interested in this license. Stay tuned…
